Couch and Chink Positive Show Host Mr. Chinkee Tan.
Around 18,000 people are expected to grace this year’s three-day Philippine Small Medium Enterprises and Franchise Expo (PHILSME EXPO 2012) at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City from May 11-13.
The event, the fourth of the yearly expo, will showcase various products and stakeholders in the SME sector. Organized by the Trade Advertising Exhibitions & Conventions International Inc. (TRADECON), the three-day expo hopes to serve as a venue for product exposure in the domestic and international markets and a link among industry players.
SMEs play a major role in the country’s economic development as they contribute to the creation of business opportunities, generation of employment, and linkages to existing industries both here and abroad.
As of 2009, small and medium enterprises comprise 99.6 percent of the almost 80,000 business enterprises operating in the Philippines, according to data by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Sixty-three percent of the labor force earns their living through SMEs. While most of the jobs generated by the sector can be found in the National Capital Region, SMEs also propel employment in rural areas especially in economic zones spread around the country.
Aside from product showcase and a venue to link market players, the exhibit will also provide opportunities for idea exchange and product demos for budding businessmen.
A great deal of free services, workshops and seminars, classes and new product launches will also be highlighted during the expo as it promises to be the right avenue to increase the exposure of SME products in domestic and foreign markets, and to improve the distribution of SME products between local manufacturing and trade sectors as well as within each sector.
Various SME players from direct selling, agriculture, hotel and restaurant management, banking, marketing, insurance and service providers will be setting up their kiosks for the three-day exhibit.
At the press conference held recently, Chinkee Tan who is a wealth coach, motivational speaker and host of KBP Golden Dove awardee 92.3 FM Radyo Singko "CHINK POSITIVE" show expressed his support for the upcoming expo and is encouraging each one to awaken their entrepreneurial spirit and engage in business that they're good at and interested in.
We would like to invite all aspiring businessmen and business owners to visit and be part of PHIL SME 2012.

Lydia's Lechon
If there will be a symbol for any Filipino festive occasions, what would it be?.. Of course "Lechon", & when i think lechon, first thing in my mind would be Lydia's Lechon.
With P500.00 as starting capital way back in 1965, Lydia and Benigno de Roca opened the first Lydia's Lechon retail stall just outside of the Our Lady of Sorrows Church, F.B. Harrison St., Pasay City.
In 1986 they opened their first self-service restaurant along the service road of Roxas Blvd., Baclaran, ParaƱaque City. While their patrons began to grow, the couple thought of giving them alternative to the cebu-style lechon. Then, the boneless lechon stuffed with seafood paella was launched. It was an instant hit; a unique gastronomical experience.
Lydias Lechon originally intended to be a close family corporation, the first franchise of Lydia's Lechon was sold in 2005 for a fast food and retail outlet at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City where i usually dine in & took pics for this story.
Today, Lydias Lechon is the biggest chain of lechon outlets in the country. Presently, there are 21 branches of Lydia's Lechon located in the Greater Manila area and Cavite.
Lydia’s is known for their Lechon of course but trying their combo meals lechon & their version of kare-kare it turn out to be perfecto! :)

Rufo's
Rufo’s Famous Tapa
Rufo’s Famous Tapa, yup you read it right “famous tapa”, their version of Tapsilog is quite extraordinary. Soft & juicy with rich sweet sauce, complementing their tagline – “Sauce pa lang, Ulam na!”.
Rufos story started way back 1984 where a group of friends opened a small eatery in Kalayaan Avenue, Makati city. The brand title “Rufos” was named after their noble boss.
Aside from their famous tapa, try their own version of Pinoy Beef Steak which tasted so good that I even ask for an order of extra rice and also try their Mushroom Adobo served in sizzling plate, so yummy & healthy.
A sweet ending with Creamy Fruit Fiesta & Black Sambo both two thumbs up!
Another thing great about Rufo’s is that all of their branches are open 24 hours & 24/7 Delivery, what can you say pa!
You can check their website at www.rufos.com.ph for more details.
Rufos rock! ;)

Dampa sa Libis
Dampa sa Libis
Dampa – Generally noted by Filipinos as a small shed near seaside. But for me Dampa means seafoods & a lot of seafoods. So whats the best Dampa place here in the metro?
Dampa sa Libis Seafood Restaurant Bazaar & Wet Market. Yes you read it right! A dampa with a twist of bazaar on the side. I’ve been a lot of dampa before but what really strucks me is my experience with this seafood haven. Aside from that, whats really cool about this place is that it offers spacious parking lot plus a Wi-Fi factor connectivity!
I have also known that Dampa sa Libis offers a very reasonable cooking charge as low as P90 half a kilo! Wow!
Fortunately while feasting on the sumptuous delicacies, I was able to meet their Assistant Operations Manager, Mr. Jorge Santos, who extends extra effort to show me around the place.
I was surprised to see all other amenities such as function rooms & venue areas. It is also remarkable to witness a very neat & tidy wet market who offers fresh catch seafoods.
I am not really a seafood fanatic but when I tasted their Fish Fillet with White Sauce I was able to finish the whole meal without realizing that I am nibbling a seafood and not a steak delicacy! Impossible but its real!
Try also their Buttered Garlic Shrimp and Shanghai Roll with Pork really very tasty! Yum…
Exaggeration on the side, but for now I can say that Dampa Sa Libis is the best Dampa in the town! Two thumbs up!
It is located at 107 E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue Libis, Quezon City, you can reach them at 395-5050 and 637-3301 and its open from 8am to 12 midnight daily.
